Camp Attach is a week-long program designed with your family’s healing and bonding in mind. Each and every part of Camp Attach has been created to give your family as many tools and skills as possible to be able to take what you learn home and succeed.
To get the full benefits of the Camp Attach program, families must fully commit to participating in all of the trainings, programs, and activities.
The week of camp is packed full of training sessions, daily children’s activities, family time, and structured family activities.
Morning trainings are attended by all parents and caregivers, and for the first three days all children with RAD, attachment disorders/issues, or behavioural and/or emotional difficulties attend the trainings with their parents. Healthy siblings participate in the “Blue Crew” program enjoying activities and outdoor play and learning regulation techniques.
Morning trainings cover information on attachment, attachment disorders, the cycle of needs, and behaviours and symptoms; the brain and how it is affected by trauma and can be healed; life and behavioural skills for healing and success; couple work to parent together as a team; home skills and home preparation; and more!
During the last three mornings of camp, all children participate in crafts, worksheet activities, games, and songs with the staff while parents continue learning in training sessions.
Before lunch each day, all children join the staff for a nature walk, worksheet activities, and songs, while parents meet with a Team Leader to learn skills through a series of activities.
Early afternoon is structured to give your family time for both rest and skills-application. After lunch is a period of family quiet time, in which families can rest, take naps, head out on the lake (where applicable), explore the grounds, or engage in family games. This time can also be used to continue using the Safety Check Protocol and practicing therapeutic parenting skills.
A structured family activity is held each afternoon and evening and each one is designed to empower parents to practice new skills, build trust with their children, strengthen the parent-child bond, and create positive family memories.
During the day (7:00AM – 8:30PM) the intervention room where the Safety Check Protocol is practiced and taught is open for any children displaying maladaptive behaviours and who need help to shift their brain and take responsibility for their actions. Safety Checks are also available overnight when needed.
